چکیده

In this study, the photocatalytic activity of highly dispersed silver (Ag) embedded into ZX-Bi zeolite during methanol (MeOH) photooxidation under visible light and at room temperature was investigated. The size dispersion Agn?+ subnanoclusters (<1 nm) studied by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), diffuse-reflectance UV–vis, in situ Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), etc. Catalytic tests were performed using operando FTIR technique MeOH as a model reaction. results showed that as-prepared Ag/ZX-Bi had very low activity, while activated sample 200 °C (Ag/ZX-Bi_200) exhibited highest (49.60 mmol·g–1·cm–2 after 12 h reaction) photooxidation, more than 6 times higher TiO2-P25 used reference. This originated from migration agglomeration subnanosized clusters Ag nanoparticles (NPs) with nm. However, catalyst experienced partial desactivation when particle sintered NPs below 20 deactivation will be discussed on basis HRTEM analysis different stages

Silver nanoparticles embedded in zeolite membranes: release of silver ions and mechanism of antibacterial action

BACKGROUND The focus of this study is on the antibacterial properties of silver nanoparticles embedded within a zeolite membrane (AgNP-ZM). METHODS AND RESULTS These membranes were effective in killing Escherichia coli and were bacteriostatic against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. E. coli suspended in Luria Bertani (LB) broth and isolated from physical contact with the membrane ...

Size-dependent melting of Bi nanoparticles

Nanocalorimetry was used to investigate the melting of Bi nanoparticles. The particles were formed by evaporating Bi onto a silicon nitride substrate, which was then heated. The particles self-assemble into truncated spherical particles. Below 5-nm average film thickness, mean particle sizes increased linearly with deposition thickness but increased rapidly for 10-nm-thick films. As expected, s...

Size-dependent acute toxicity of silver nanoparticles in mice

In this study, we aimed to evaluate changes in the acute toxicity of intraperitoneally administered silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) of varying sizes in BALB/c mice. Seven-week-old female BALB/c mice were intraperitoneally administered AgNPs measuring 10, 60, or 100 nm in diameter (0.2 mg/mouse) and then sacrificed 1, 3, or 6 h after treatment. In mice administered 10 nm AgNPs, reduced activity and...

Size-dependent toxicity of silver nanoparticles to Glyptotendipes tokunagai

OBJECTIVES This study aims to evaluate the size-dependent toxicity of spherical silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) to an endemic benthic organism, Glyptotendipes tokunagai. METHODS Ag nanoparticles of three nominal sizes (50, 100, and 150 nm) capped with polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP-Ag NPs) were used. Their physicochemical properties, acute toxicity (48 hours), and bioaccumulation were measured usin...

Size-dependent antioxidative activity of platinum nanoparticles

Background So far, most of studies on nanometer-sized metal particles have focused on biological safety and potential hazards. However, anti-oxidative activity of noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) attracts much attention, recently. Platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) are one of the most important noble metals in nanotechnology because Pt NPs have negative surface potential from negative charges and a...
